About The Founder - Nayoung Lee
Nayoung was born and raised in Korea, and have worked in New York City over the last 10 years with multiple fashion houses and overseas factories throughout China, India, and Bangladesh. In 2013, a tragic incident with garment workers occurred in Bangladesh resulting in 1,100 dead and over an additional 2,200 wounded. That moment left her wondering how her designs were made and eventually shaped her values towards ethical and sustainable production.
The next major turning point in her own life was when she witnessed first-hand little girls being subjected to adult-like responsibilities because the adults were not being paid a fair living wage. It went against her own beliefs. To her, children should be children. They should have fun learning, and be the future of our society. Nayoung quickly came to realize that the power to make change comes from the brand designers and the demands they make to their manufacturers. Her first step towards being the change she wanted to see, was to become a consumer of goods that aligned with her own beliefs of ethical and sustainable fashion.
Runway Style at Home
ELMNTL started with Nayoung's vision of creating better sleep/loungewear when she often worked remotely at home and had to settle for either style or comfort. Even today as modern working women, our options are few and far between. One’s choices are either granny-style PJs, or uncomfortable lingerie. We all deserve better.
From there, Nayoung was further inspired to pursue stylish yet comfortable clothing that would encompass the state of mind needed to tackle the work day. ELMNTL provides the modern woman better sleep/loungewear choices when working from home or simply enjoying a lazy Sunday. Each piece is inspired by you, the modern woman who exudes strength and confidence towards what she wants.
The core of Nayoung's mission is to empower other women, like yourself, to be successful and improve lives because we are the future.
What You Wear, Matters
The average woman will spend more than a third of their life at home, with minimal choices to express her true authentic self within the home. The average woman will settle for the 10-year-old unflattering baggy t-shirt which fails to represent who they truly are. ELMNTL is here to support women like you, the ones who refuse to settle, the ones who always demand excellence, and the ones who know that being your best starts with wanting more than average.
All our pieces are made with meticulous attention to detail and with the highest quality fabrics carefully selected from vendors across the world. While quality and uniqueness are our main priorities, we always seek vendors who align with our beliefs for strict ethical codes that support sustainable fashion. Our mission is to demand better ways to design clothing that can make a meaningful and lasting change in the fashion industry.
A portion of sales will go toward Save the Children, to support their mission dedicated to helping children in need around the world.
